The “Civilizations in Harmony, Art Without Borders” China-UAE International Cultural and Art Exchange Exhibition was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on December 20th. The event was jointly organized by the Dubai Dragon Mart Chinese Tenants Trade committee and the UAE Chinese Social Club and is supported and guided by the International Exchange Working Committee of China Association of Trade in Services. More than a hundred representatives from the cultural, art, overseas Chinese and business circles of China and the United Arab Emirates attended the opening ceremony. Thousands of visitors came to visit the exhibition.

The exhibition is themed “Civilizations in Harmony, Art Without Borders”, showcases over a hundred calligraphy, painting and other artworks by Chinese artists. It systematically presenting the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese art in the contemporary context. Through artistic exchange, the exhibition aims to promote mutual learning between Chinese and the United Arab Emirates civilizations and strengthen people-to-people connections.

During the event, Guozhong Jin, the president of the Dubai Dragon Mart Chinese Tenants Trade committee; Xiaoping Xu, the acting chairman of the UAE Chinese Social Club; former general manager of the Cultural Understanding Center of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in the United Arab Emirates; Arab culture expert Nasif Kayed and others delivered speeches in turn.

Xiaoping Xu said in his speech that Chinese art has a long history and is profound and extensive. It is not only a visual art but also the crystallization of the wisdom and emotions of five thousand years of Chinese civilization. The unique expressions of Chinese calligraphy and painting in terms of materials, techniques and aesthetic concepts have enriched the diversity of world art. In today’s globalized world, they have become an important link for cultural understanding and friendship between peoples. He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese artists for coming all the way to participate in the exhibition and expressed his hope that audiences in the UAE and from around the world would gain a more direct appreciation of the charm of Chinese culture.

Nasif Kayed pointed out in his speech that art is an important bridge connecting different civilizations. The artistic conception and spiritual pursuit reflected in Chinese calligraphy and painting share commonalities with the emphasis on characters and the art of writing in Arab culture. He believes that China and the United Arab Emirates have many commonalities in cultural inheritance, family values and social development concepts, which provides a strong foundation for the continuous deepening of people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Yun Wang, vice chairman of the Hong Kong Artists Association and a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, as a representative of the artists, said that Dubai is a place where diverse civilizations converge. The works on display this time cover a variety of calligraphy styles, which not only reflect the traditional cultural heritage of Chinese calligraphy but also showcase contemporary artistic expressions. He expressed hope that through art exchanges, the cultural ties nurtured by the Silk Road can be continued and the mutual learning between Chinese and UAE civilizations can be continuously deepened.

Guojun Shi, the chairman of Jilin Tianyuan Culture and Art Development Co., Ltd. and the president of the Asian Calligraphers and Painters Association, said he hopes that Chinese traditional culture and Arab civilization should spark off each other through exchanges and grow together through mutual learning. He also expressed his wish for more such opportunities in the future, making the cultural exchanges between China and the United Arab Emirates increasingly close and allowing the brilliance of different civilizations to shine together.

Fanghua Tong, the executive president of Yilian Global Cultural and Art Financial Investment International Group Co., Ltd., said that art is a universal language that transcends national boundaries, and cultural exchange is an important bridge to promote mutual understanding between the people of China and the United Arab Emirates.



A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the event site to open the exhibition, and the honorary title of "China-UAE Cultural Exchange Ambassador" was awarded to artists who have long been committed to cultural exchanges between China and the United Arab Emirates. Representatives of Chinese artists also presented artworks to the relevant guests, expressing the wish for cultural exchanges and friendly cooperation between China and the United Arab Emirates in an artistic form.
